This Laboratory was expanded in 1998 with a Presidential Decree (ΦΕΚ 241, 29/10/1998) so as to include the operation of a Special Unit of “Social Psychiatry – Mental Health Center” that provides services to the adult population of the Municipality of Zografou.

General Description

Given that the Laboratory of Psychopathology and Neuropsychology had a limited activity in the field it aimed to serve, its activities were enlarged  with a Presidential Decree (no. 360 - ΦΕΚ 241, 29/10/1998) so as to include a Special Unit of “Social Psychiatry – Mental Health Center” which offered and continues to provide mental health services to the population of the Municipality of Zografou.  Since 2017, the Mental Health Center was included in the Psychiatric Unit of the Nursing Faculty which is located at the General Oncology Hospital “The Saint Anargyri”, and was renamed “University Center for Mental Health with a Sub-unit on Psychosocial Rehabilitation”  (ΦΕΚ 156 25/1/2017, τόμος β΄).

At present, the Laboratory focuses on activities which aim to train health care professionals on issues related to (a) the prevention of management of stress among care providers who provide services to vulnerable populations and (b)  the enhancement of their resilience.  

Aims of the Laboratory

• Training of health care professionals on issues related to their mental health and resilience.
• Research on mental health issues associated with the well-being of care providers and the relationships they develop with people in need of their services.
• Consultation and psychological support services for health care providers, teams and health care organizations.
